My Background
My name is Ivy Fischer and this is my seventh year teaching, all of which have been at Oak Ridge! I feel thankful every day for the great community I work in created together by all of the stakeholders. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a major in Language Arts and a minor in Early Childhood at Central Michigan University. I obtained my Master’s degree in Integrating Technology into the Classroom from Walden University. My Life Outside of Teaching Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with loved ones, traveling, shopping, and staying fit and active in general. Second Grade Second grade is a year of discovery and learning. Students begin to gain more confidence, responsibility, and independence throughout the year. They strengthen many of the skills they learned in first grade and learn many new skills and concepts. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout our year together at Oak Ridge. As your child’s teacher, it is my goal to help them become a confident learner. I believe that each child is unique and learns in a different way. I will be a “guide on the side” as your child discovers his or her individuality and will work alongside them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively, and learning through play. Having a welcoming and comfortable environment is crucial in order for this to happen. It is my goal to provide your children with a secure and comfortable learning environment where they can be challenged at a level appropriate to their needs as well as develop strong self-esteem and intrinsic motivation to learn. My hope is that my students reach their fullest potential academically and grow socially with the hopes they will become knowledgeable and proactive citizens in their environment now and in the future. Our Relationship I believe that parental involvement is vital to a child’s education and success in my classroom. In order to make the biggest impact possible, we must work together as a team. I cannot wait to work with you and your child. I am certain that together we can accomplish many things! As the year progresses, I will be including ways for you to participate in your child’s learning. I hope that we can work together in the best interest of your children. My main means of communication is our closed/private classroom Facebook page. You must request to join as this page is only viewable to members I approve. If it isn’t a private manner and something you think other students’ parents/guardians will benefit from, feel free to post it on our classroom Facebook page. On a personal level, I will do my best to keep in touch with you via email or phone regarding your child. Anything you choose to share with me about your child is beneficial and confidential. Please do not hesitate to email me about any questions or concerns at Ivy.Fischer@royaloakschools.org as this is the best way to reach me privately. |
